A wet Friday in Japan

Editing the blog is my connection to the build, after each phone call to Scott the mind starts to kick into gear and ideas flow quickly. I was just looking at my four days in Christchurch at McGregor Motorsport and thinking how fortunate one is to be able to have such a project.

I certainly miss the hands on, the sounds so familiar in a workshop, the banter between friends, problems that arise and solutions that resolve them. The sparkle of enthusiasm, the smiles, a sense of accomplishment, all combine to make this so worthwhile. The next few weeks will be very busy with so many small tasks suddenly transforming the build. Our goal is to have a “mock-up” ready for when I am back in New Zealand. This will be the time to start the engine for the first time, a great moment.

So, at my desk a quick edit of my last day in the workshop in December…roll on March 2017!

MACHsr7 meets THE COROMANDEL PENINSULA

The intention that Taz and I would drive to Wainui Beach, Gisborne. But, appalling weather approaching we took the opportunity to drive around the Coromandel Peninsula. A simply Stunning Drive in any car but extraordinarily stunning in an open car….the MACHsr7 loved it.

The Coromandel Peninsula on the North Island of New Zealand extends 85 kilometers north from the western end of the Bay of Plenty, forming a natural barrier to protect the Hauraki Gulf and the Firth of Thames in the west from the Pacific Ocean to the east. At its broadest point, it is 40 kilometers wide. Almost the entire population lies on the narrow strips along the Hauraki Gulf and Bay of Plenty coasts. In fine weather the peninsula is clearly visible from Auckland, the country’s biggest city, which lies on the far shore of the Hauraki Gulf, 55 kilometers to the west. The peninsula is part of the local government areas of Thames-Coromandel District and the Waikato Region.

MUFFLER

Not being one to leave the car in the garage, it gets daily driving when I am over from Japan on holiday. The muffler tends to take a battering from roads and the simply solution is to take it off and paint it…..that’s of course over a few cold beers.

McGREGOR MOTORSPORT

It’s always very special returning to McGregor Motorsport to see what’s happening in their factory. I am never disappointed and once again I was able to see another Historic Car being restored to its former functional condition. The video simply catches some of those endless tasks that need to be completed…
