POWDER COATING

With the chassis rapidly having more components attached I am in the aesthetic decision mode for powder coating options. My focus is to stay true to my design brief of simple and subtle. Mixing shades of black will enhance the overall design now that I am firm in the body color.

ALARM SYSTEM

The car is not even on its wheels and I am already thinking about security…the immobilizer is the compact package that meets all my needs. I have just found this at a local electrical store so more parts to be collected and sent south.

The 03-P205 Cyclops 3 star transponder immobilizer is NZSA certified and is the ultimate fit-and-forget immobilizer. The engine will start only when a valid transponder tag is hanging from the ignition keys. No user intervention required.

• 2 independent circuits of immobilization – uses robust 30 amp relays allowing immobilization of usually the ignition, fuel or starter motor.
• Two coded transponders tags – individually coded (Auto Arm & Disarm).
• Sufficient memory to track 4 independent Tags – oldest Tag is rolled off after programming 5th Tag.
• High intensity LED -flashes when engine is immobilized.
• Auto-arming – system arms within 39 seconds of ignition turn off.

TYRES PROXY T1R

WHICH WAY….LEFT OR RIGHT

I need to keep ahead of the fabrication by making the “design” decisions. I have learnt in build one that the quicker I gave them my concepts the faster the progress Today I simply need to decide which goes where and slope left or right for the carbon fiber dash.

DESIGN CONCEPTS

This is a major part of a custom car build, sadly neglected in many I see live and on the internet. The success of my last car was after I made several crucial aesthetic changes….it is not until you spend time with the car that you see and feel what it needs. The “old school” chrome look simply had to go; ironically it was the engine bay devoid of shine that I needed to take to the exterior.

First victim was the “truck muffler” that was replaced with a satin black complete system, followed quickly by sending the wheels off to be powder coated satin black too. Seats soon had seat belt eyelets installed and a simple black four point harness installed. While these seem minor they changed the look and style considerably.

The new car design is being far more carefully monitored – I have taken over the majority of parts purchasing with “satin black” being the theme. Gone are the “old school” chrome bezels on the instrument cluster. The quick mock-up on a carbon fiber dash shows the design concept I will carry through the build.
